An important aspect of every driveway paving job is to understand the asphalt. This driveway is located in Central Ottawa and because the homes are typically over 60 years old in this neighborhood it is common to find poor sub grades when excavating. With this driveway we found over 8 inches of old asphalt and less than 2 inches of gravel for a base. The Canark paving team worked diligently to remove the old driveway and we replaced it with 12 inches of gravel, compacted it with our 5 ton vibratory roller then used only the highest grade of asphalt available. This driveway will last for years to come!
